Established in 1971, Warrender is a small primary school with a nursery unit in Ruislip with about 240 children aged from 3 to 11. We pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere and our positive approach to learning.
Children and teachers throughout the school belong to one of three 'houses' (Mars (Red), Venus (Yellow) and Neptune (Blue), which compete with each other throughout the year in various academic and sporting events, stage house assemblies and support a chosen charity.
The school provides a wide range of learning opportunities and extra-curricular activities to maximise the children's development. There is a wide range of themed cross-curricular educational weeks, opportunities to learning to play musical instruments, get involved in the community through the choir and compete in sports against other schools. Many pre and post school clubs are run with a wide range of interests catered for each day from sport to ICT based activities.
A Good School
Following our Ofsted inspection in Nov 2011, Warrender has been graded "Good" in every category, including teaching and learning, leadership and management, and our children's achievement, with "Outstanding" judgements for children adopting healthy lifestyles, feeling safe and for their attendance.
Warrender has a proud history of high achievement and enjoys an excellent reputation within the local community. As testimony of this, Warrender has again featured in the 2012 Sunday Times Top 400 Primary Schools report, which ranks schools by the percentage of children achieving Level 4 in English and maths over the past three years. Of the 17000 or so primary schools in England, Warrender came in 105th place, which is an excellent achievement. However, we are not content to rest on our laurels, our aim is to use our past successes as the foundation for future developments.
Healthy Schools Initiative
Warrender is proud to have gained Healthy Schools accreditation in Summer 2009 after just one year! In 2010, Warrender was one of just four schools in Hillingdon to embark on the new Enhanced Healthy Schools progamme and was one of the first to be officially awarded Enhanced Healthy Schools status in Feb 2012.
This initiative involved work in four areas:
- Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
- Emotional Well-being
- Physical Activity
- Healthy Eating
As a parallel step to this activity, in 2012, Warrender was awarded the GetSet 2012 accreditation for its work in promoting the Olympic values of Respect, Excellence, Friendship and Equality.
The Activemark award is for primary schools, middle deemed primary and special schools with primary age pupils. It rewards delivery of the national PE, School Sport and Club Links strategy and is open to all schools which are part of a school sport partnership*.
Warrender was awarded the Activemark 2007 kitemark for achieving the required standard of 90% or more of pupils across the school doing at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport a week. Click here to see what extra-curricular clubs are running at Warrender.
Eco-Schools is an international programme that guides schools towards becoming as sustainable as possible, by providing a framework to help embed sustainable practices and principles into school life. In 2011 Warrender received the Eco-Schools Bronze Award in recognition of its achievements and we achieved the Silver Award a year later in 2012
