Friday 15th January

Good morning Hazel and Holly class,

I hope you had a lovely day baking yesterday and made something nice.

Today, we are going to look at the second sound (a) in RWI set 1. Watch a lovely winter story in literacy. Complete an art challenge inspired by Kandinsky's work.

Physical Education - PE with Joe Wicks - 0900 Optional

(A)To access this go to P.E with Joe Wicks on YouTube. Alternatively, you can do Andys Adventures on You-Tube.  It is important to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

Phonics-Links below

(N2) Please watch the video lesson for the letter 'a ' and copy the letter from my whiteboard and not the flashcard, as it needs to have a lead-in from the line. This is where we say "up we go." Please only practise the sounds we are learning and your name card in the correct cursive formation at the moment. We will cover the other letters in due course. Thank you.

(A)Afterwards please watch Geraldine the giraffe to consolidate their learning of 'a' and have fun looking around the house for something beginning with 'a'.

See RWI in cursive see below.

Maths - Links below

(A)  Complete the colour in and shape recognition worksheet.

(A) Afterward there is a lovely game to play with your family the shape and roll colour game. Try to talk about shapes in your everyday lives, pointing them out at home and outside.

(A) I have a sweet winter story to round up a lovely week of learning. Watch the story of Ten Little Lights. Think about some of the questions below whilst I am reading the story, and answer them afterwards to test your recall and memory.

1. What is the weather like in the story?

2. Who is the first animal to appear in the story?

3. Who let the animals into the house?

4.How many lights were lit at the end of the story?

5. Can you name all 10 animals in the story?

(A) We have been learning about shapes all week, so I wanted to link art in with your learning. We are going to look at the artist Wassily Kadinsky and how he used colour and shapes in his art. Watch the PowerPoint about Kadinsky and look at his art getting some ideas for your own piece of art. There is a challenge to make your own picture inspired by Kadinsky, you have all weekend to complete the task and it is worth 15 Dojos.

Optional Activities - Links below

(A) I have added some further shape activities; build a shape dinosaur and a  2D shape castles activity.

Each day we will continue to follow the school timetable including activities in Maths, English, Creative, and Physical for you to complete. Plus some optional fun additional activities.

Please note from now on the activities with (N2) in front of them are for the children going to Reception. These activities will extend their previous learning and are adapted for their age and stage of development.  (N1) activities will be for the new children who will be staying in Nursery for another year. If there is an (A) against the activity this will be for all children to learn and enjoy.

Please send pictures of the work you have completed via the Dojo portfolio and I can award Dojos for this. Please message me if you have any questions.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and the weather stays dry so you can get out in the fresh air.
Mrs Zammattio
