Monday 1st February

Good morning Holly and Hazel class.


I hope you all had a lovely weekend and got a chance to take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. 


This week is Mental Health Week and throughout the week, we will be completing a range of activities linked to expressing ourselves and also supporting our mental health, parents and children can get involved. You can find more information by clicking the 'children' tab then 'class pages' scroll to the bottom where you will find 'Warrender Well-being and Mental Health.' There will be one activity per day on our class page that you can complete, however, please feel free to get involved with more! 


In maths, we will continue our number journey and learn all about the number 8 this week. Today in phonics we will learn the new sound 'n' and afterwards watch Geraldine to consolidate your learning. Please listen to the story of Ruby's Worry which is linked to Mental Health Week and afterwards there is a lovely activity to complete.

We will continue to follow the school timetable including activities in Maths, English, Creative and Physical for you to complete. Plus some optional fun additional activities.


(A)Physical Education - 0900

Today can you take part in P.E with Joe Wicks, he will be live from 9.00 am every day on YouTube. Alternatively, you can try our school P.E. Challenges on the P.E. icon on the daily stars page. We will do some form of exercise each day as it is important to get some form of exercise and is all so great for our well-being.

RWI - Phonics - Link below

(N2)Watch and learn the sound 'n' lesson. Please write the letter 'n' three times in cursive as modeled on the whiteboard in the lesson. Can you re-cap on writing sounds learnt so far, 'm, a, s, d, t, i'.

(A) Afterwards, watch Geraldine the giraffe learning the sound 'n' to reinforce their learning of the sound. I hope you have fun looking for objects around the house beginning with 'n'. 


Mental Health Activity - Links below
Listen to the lovely story of Ruby's Worry read by Mrs Zammattio which talks about how and who to share your worries with. Please discuss and answer the questions below with your child. 

1.Why was it important for Ruby to share her worry?

2.Who could you share your worries with?

3.What happened to the worry when Ruby spoke about her feelings?

4.Are you worried about anything at the moment? 

(A)Afterwards I would like you all to be creative and make your own worry doll, I have included pictures and the history of the worry doll for you to read in the links below.

I have included a Numblocks number 8 colouring sheet and some mindful colouring sheets linking to our Mental Health Week. 


Please note from now activities with (N2) in front of them are for the children going to Reception. These activities will extend their previous learning and are adapted for their age and stage of development.  (N1) activities will be for the new children who will be staying in Nursery for another year. If there is an (A) against the activity this will be for all children to learn and enjoy.
