Monday 8th February

Good morning Holly and Hazel class.


I hope you all had a lovely weekend and had a chance to complete the number 8 home challenge to consolidate your learning of number 8 last week.


This week is Celebrations week, we will be looking at the Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day with lots of lovely activities. 


We will begin our celebrations today and learn all about the Chinese New Year as part of our topic work.  In maths, can you count and add the objects on the Chinese New Year interactive PowerPoint and worksheet. This week in phonics can you recap on the sounds learnt so far and practise writing the sounds in the correct pre-cursive writing. There is also a pencil control activity to help with fine motor skills and pencil control development. 

We will continue to follow the school timetable including activities in Maths, English, Creative and Physical for you to complete. Plus some optional fun additional activities.


(A)Physical Education - 0900

Today can you take part in P.E with Joe Wicks, he will be live from 9.00 am every day on YouTube. Alternatively, you can try our school P.E. Challenges on the P.E. icon on the daily stars page. We will do some form of exercise each day as it is important to get some form of exercise and is all so great for our well-being. 


Celebrations Chinese New Year  Topic/ Literacy - Links below

(A)Watch the Videos and listen to Mrs Zammattio talking about Chinese New Year and learn about the traditions of this celebration. There is also a lovely story read by Mrs Zammattio called 'It's Chinese New Year'.

(A) Afterwards, I would like you all to be creative and choose to either make a Chinese Lantern or a Chinese drum or both if you wish.  All instructions on how to make them are in the links below

(A) Chinese counting interactive PowerPoint for you to enjoy matching numeral to quantity. 

(N2) Complete the Chinese New Year counting and adding worksheet. 


RWI - Phonics - Link below

(N2)This week there will be no recorded lessons. I would like you to revisit the lessons on the RWI star and practise writing the sounds in the correct pre-cursive writing. 

(A) Practise your pencil control with the Chinese New Year worksheet. Choose one or two to save on printing.

There are lots of lovely activities in maths, creative and fine motor skills for you to choose either one or all. I hope you enjoy trying them. 


Please note from now activities with (N2) in front of them are for the children going to Reception. These activities will extend their previous learning and are adapted for their age and stage of development.  (N1) activities will be for the new children who will be staying in Nursery for another year. If there is an (A) against the activity this will be for all children to learn and enjoy.

Revisit the sounds already learnt on the RWI star and practise writing the sounds in the correct formation of pre-cursive.
