Happy Thursday!

I hope you've had a great week so far and enjoyed some of the activities I have set! Thank you for sending all your work through. You are doing a brilliant job so far considering the circumstances. 

Today's activities are below. Today you will be doing Grammar, English, Maths, RE and French. I have also included additional activities for you to complete at the bottom of the page, there is an extra SPaG activity too.  


Any questions you have please message me on Dojo and don't forget to send me your Maths scores from the arithmetic test I have set.

Morning Starter

Watch the Literacy Shed clip below called The Clock Tower. 

What is happening in the short film? 

How does the setting make you feel at the start of the film compared to when the girl leaves the tower? 

What is the role of the girl in the clock tower? 

What happened when she left the clock tower? 

Why do you think this happened? 

How do you think the girl is feeling? 

If you were the girl, would you go back to the tower or leave the town? 


Discuss these questions with your partner, no need to record your answers. 

Grammar - Direct and Indirect Speech


Follow the power point which explains and talks you through the meaning of direct and indirect speech. With in the power point there are two mini tasks for you to complete. You must go through this power point and complete the tasks before you move on to English as you will need to know the difference between direct and indirect speech for the English lesson.

Watch the recorded power point above. All the resources, including the power point, have been attached below. Follow the power point then complete the features task at the end. If you can't print the resources off, you could use a newspaper article from home and write the checklist out. 

I have included three different newspaper articles for you to choose from. You do not need to use all three just choose one of the three to highlight. 

Maths Starter 

Your Maths Starter is Hit the Button. 

Practice your times tables or squared numbers. Have a few goes to see if you can beat your score from your previous go.

Complete the Maths test above. Remember to give your self 30 minutes to complete the test (give yourself a little more time if you need it, we have been off school for a while!).


The answers are at the end of the test for you to mark your own test once you have completed it. 


Maths group 2 have some questions from the test. You do not need to complete this in test conditions and can complete the questions like you normally would in class with any support you need. 

The answers for Maths Group 2 questions can be found at the end of arithmetic test 6. 


Remember to send me your scores on Dojo.

Whole Class Reading 

Your whole class reading for today is just to read chapter 5 of Holes. I have copied the chapter on to a power point so it is easier for you to read.

Purple Mash 

I have set a story on Purple Mash for you to read a chapter a day and complete the quiz that goes with the chapter. As this book is 7 chapters, this book will continue in to next week. 

I have set a SPaG activity called Circus Tricks - Use the colon to introduce a list and use commas or colons within lists.


I have set daily activities on Mathletics for you. Throughout the week you have been set five activities but you only need to complete one per day.
