SEND

At Warrender Primary School, we recognise that children learn and develop at different rates, our aim is to remove barriers to learning so that all our children:

• Develop strong early foundations so they can have an excellent start in their learning and development.
• Overtime, equip themselves as both an individual and as a learner so they have the skills, knowledge and personal qualities needed for life beyond Warrender School. 
• Experience an inclusive learning approach where all children are given opportunities to achieve their potential.

Our SEND Policy and Information Report aims to:

• Set out how our school will support and make provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEND)
• Explain the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in providing for pupils with SEND

N - No additional SEN support required (children not on SEN register)

K - SEN support (children listed on the SEN register receiving addition support and termly targets on Provision Map) 

E – EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) Children with the most complex SEND needs who have been formally assessed by the Local Authority and issued with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring they receive coordinated support across education, health and care.

What is an EHCP?

If we feel your child requires assessment for an EHCP, we will discuss this with you directly. Having SEND does not mean a child requires an EHCP. 

An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is a legal document issued by the Local Authority for children and young people with the most complex and long-term special educational needs.

EHCPs are not required for most pupils with SEND. They are only put in place when a child needs significantly more support than a school can usually provide from its own resources.

An EHCP:

• Identifies a child’s individual needs
• Sets out the additional support required across education, health and care
• Ensures that support is coordinated and legally protected

At Warrender Primary School, we work closely with families and professionals to support pupils at every level. If a child’s needs are particularly complex and long-term, we may work with parents and the Local Authority to request an EHCP.
