We are committed to providing a wide variety of exciting, stimulating and challenging opportunities across the curriculum. School trips give pupils opportunities to learn in different environments, and improve writing outcomes by enriching their vocabulary.
In recent months, different year groups have enjoyed visiting the Sealife London Aquarium, London Zoo, Hampton Court Palace, The Royal Courts of Justice and the Science Museum.
In year 6, the children are able to experience a residential trip at the PACCAR scout camp (Click here for more information). This is an exciting opportunity for children to engage in new outdoor activities, and develop their personal skills while making amazing memories.
We provide high-quality P.E. and sport, complemented by a wide range of extracurricular sporting and competitive opportunities.
Fixtures Warrender participates in throughout the year:
In 2025, we received the Gold Award in the School Games Mark. The Warrender Netball team are currently ranked 2nd in the Borough. The year 4 Golf team are also on their way to the London Youth Games after becoming Borough Champions! This is the 2nd year in a row we have represented Hillingdon in the London Youth Games for Golf. In 2025 two Warrender boys broke records during the swimming gala.
Inclusions Sports
Warrender provides a high-quality inclusion sports programme, which celebrates sports for all abilities. We have participated in fixtures throughout the year, including Boccia, Pentathalon and we have also won a bowling competition.
In 2024, Warrender was awarded the Equal Access Schools award for their dedication to providing girls with opportunities and access to sports - particularly girls' football. This is celebrated at school during 'Female Football Fridays' and the 'Let Girls Play' initiative, in which 175 girls in KS2 participated, as well as a year 5 and 6 girls' football team.
Water Smart
The Water Safety Code is the fundamental spine of all water safety education. It is designed to provide simple and easy to remember information that acts both as a proactive measure to help people to educate every one across the UK and Ireland to make early, critical decisions and also to help people to understand what they should do in emergency action. Water has received this award.
A hook day is a fun, exciting way to spark pupils' interest in their new topic. The activities give pupils a snapshot/taster of the topic, and they are immersed in the things they will be learning about.
Victorian Day : The year 2 children step back in time and explore the lives of Victorian children. The children dress in Victorian clothes and experience lessons in a Victorian classroom following Victorian school rules, and discover how the Victorians lived and who they were.
Travel and Adventure : Children come to school with their suitcase packed with the essentials for travel. They enter the airport, present their passport and board the aeroplane ready for an exciting adventure.
Crime Scenes - Introduces the year 6 children to the topic of Crime and Punishment. Pupils are encouraged to investigate, analyse and interpret information to arrive at their own conclusions.
Throughout the year, the Warrender Junior Choir attends various musical events. Children enjoy taking part in various musical and drama workshops held in our school. In the summer term, we enjoy a theatre trip where we can appreciate musical theatre. Musicals included Hairspray, Matilda, The Lion King and Starlight Express.
Every year, both Key stage one and Key stage two watch a traditional pantomime and the whole school participates in music and drama workshops.
Young Voices is an exciting opportunity for primary school children to come together at iconic locations, to be part of the largest children's choir concerts in the world. Children in the Warrender Junior Choir rehearse, and perform, a wide variety of songs and dance moves at Wembley Arena alongside their peers, children from other schools and incredible artists.
The whole school participates in weekly singing assemblies in their key phases. Within these assemblies, children are exposed to and learn a range of songs from different genres and cultures.
Year 5 children participate in an African Drumming workshop once a year, where they learn different drumming beats, call and response patterns and about the history of the Djembe drum whilst our Year 4 children spend the year learning the tuned instrument- a Ukulele.
Every half term, the whole school spends half a day focusing on a particular current affair at an age-appropriate level. These days generate deep discussions and explorations around key themes and allow children to explore the issue from various perspectives. Artist Appreciation day is where each year group has a focus on a particular artist. Children learn about their life and their art. They use their art as an inspiration to create their own piece of art which is framed and then viewed in an art gallery to parents at the end of the day. Children have the opportunity to then purchase their art as a keep sake.
Black History Month - October is Black History Month, a time to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black people in the UK and around the world.
World Book Day - World Book Day provides a fantastic opportunity to focus on reading for pleasure, supporting children's autonomy in book choice, and embedding a habit of reading that brings a wide range of benefits.
Warrender always encourages children in their personal development and a perfect opportunity for this is planning, leading their own collective worship assemblies. Warrender children also develop confidence and public speaking through a variety of events such as yearly class assembly, Christmas Nativity, class performances and end-of-Year 6 production.
Part of our ASPIRE values is support, our Warrender community enjoy supporting the Ruislip Community through involvement in various different events such as Cafe Connect, Light up the Manor, Visits to local Elderly Care Home and carol singing.
There are many opportunities throughout the year where children engage in high quality learning opportunities and are inspired from these developing their knowledge and understanding.
