Absence

How Do I Report My Child Absent?

If your child is absent from school please contact the school office by either emailing absence@warrenderschool.org.uk / using the link below or call the school on 01895 462355 and select the option for reporting your child absent. Please leave a message clearly stating your child's name and the reason for absence. Please try to leave a message before 8:30am. This is especially important if your child is in Year 5 & 6 and walks to school.

If the reason for absence is sickness/vomiting/stomach upset please note that we follow the Health Protection Agency guidelines which advise exclusion from school for 48 hours after the last sickness/vomiting/stomach upset incident. This is to try to prevent cross infection as much as possible.

The school attendance policy clearly states that should a leave of absence be taken without prior authorisation, a penalty notice may be issued by the local authority. The penalty notice is £60 per parent, per child if paid within 21 days and £120 per parent, per child if paid after this date but within 28 days. Failure to pay the penalty notice could result in the local authority starting legal proceedings against you for the offence of failing to ensure your child’s regular attendance at school.

Exceptional Leave Information

The law does not grant parents an automatic right to take their child out of school during term time. If the request is for an absence in term time you must have parental responsibility and be the parent with whom the child normally lives. Permission must be sought in advance and must be for exceptional circumstances. Please complete an Authorised leave form below and email it to office@warrenderschool.org.uk or hand in a hard copy.
